“Over the Hump” ride this Wednesday!
Hope everyone is happy that Hockey is finally over (too bad about the result though) and can get back to their regular lives !
This week’s Hump Ride will be the “Longest Hump Ride of the Year” as we’ll be starting to get into shorter days again (where did that Spring go? Hope you got in lot’s of rides?). As a challenge, why don’t you come out and try to ride as many of the Aspen Trailhead trails as you can that night? We’ll have maps onsite and you can cross of the ones you did!
We’ll be back to our normal Operations and I’m guessing lots of people will be out. As the group gets larger it would be nice for people to consider bringing a snack (chips, desert, whatever) to chip in for the night and bring your own bevies as well. This way the Food Contributor can focus on just supplying the main food. This week’s food will be provided by Jason Colvig and Trades Labour Corporation. Thanks Jason! Also, not enough thanks can ever be given to OTRA Social Director Lorne Scott for coordinating and even cooking the food for these events. Thanks Lorne, you’re our hero!
Date: Wednesday June 22
Meet: at Aspen Trailhead (~1 km past the old Lower Pits)
5pm: Short Guided loop for newer riders

Okanagan Ride for Dad raises est. $24,000
The Okanagan Chapter of Ride for Dad was a great day for all who attended. Roughly 320 riders showed up bright and early to register and take part in the days events. The rough total raised through donations, pledges, sponsorships etc. was approximately $24,000. The Galz were there and so was one of the MotorcyDudez! Stay tuned as we will be editing a piece for Shaw TV in coming weeks. To learn more about the Ride for Dad visit www.motorcycleridefordad.org.
Langley Fundraising Ride
The Pacific Coast Cruisers Motorcycle Club (PCCMC) is a group of men and women who have two things in common: the love of motorcycling and having fun. www.pccmc.ca They have been doing a charity ride for the past 14 years with all proceeds going to the Children’s Wish Foundation and have donated over $25,000 in that time.
Marq Smith and his team at Western Powersports in Langley have been great sponsors over the years, making generous donations for the silent auction that takes place before and after the ride.
The ride this year has a 60-70’s theme and has been renamed form Marq’s Mystery Tour to Marq’s Magical Mystery Tour. The ride goes through a very nice route starting and ending in Langley with some great Fraser Valley back roads being ridden. There will be checkpoints along the way with snacks, refreshments and, of course, games of skill. The ride is about 3 hours long and ends at an establishment in the Langley area where we have something to eat, enjoy some camaraderie and finish the silent auction.

Ride for Dad – Okanagan Chapter
Ride for Dad – Okanagan Chapter is this Sunday. Come out and join Rick Webber (CHBC-TV) and Phil Johnson (AM 1150 radio) plus a few hundred of their close personal friends and help fight prostate cancer. Prostate cancer affects everyone just like breast cancer. That means, ladies, that this event is for you too! Despite popular belief, you don’t have to be a man or a cruiser rider to participate.
All types of bikes are welcome, as are men and women riders. If you can’t make the ride, come out and support the cause and the riders in the morning over coffee or in the evening when they return.
MotorcyGalz will be taking part in this year’s event and filming for an upcoming MotorcyGalz on Shaw TV.
If all of this isn’t enough to get you out there, then how about coming to take a look a some 2011 Ducati motorcycles in action? Bentley Motorrad in West Kelowna, just received a shipment of 2011 Ducati motorcycles. MotorcyGalz together with Bentley staff will bring to the ride a 2011 Ducati Diavel, Monster 1100 Evo and Multistrada. Look for the bright red!
Hope to see everyone out on Sunday at 8 a.m. at Banner Recreation for a great day on the road.
Visit Motorcycle Ride for Dad for further details or to donate.

Breakfast is at 9:30 at the North Shore Neighbourhood House (back lane), 225 East 2nd Street, North Vancouver. The ride departs at 10:30 a.m. and returns around 4 p.m. for barbeque and social.

Deals for International Female Ride Day
May 6th is International Female Ride Day.
The day started years ago back east with Vicki Gray of Motoress and is growing around the world…and the industry is starting to take notice.
Women are one of the fastest growing markets for motorcycles and the May 6th weekend is shaping up to be a good one for saving yourself some money on 2-wheels and accessories.
Kawasaki is launching a $250 savings opportunity for purchasers in conjunction with International Female Ride Day. The promotion will run May 6-8.
The first 500 purchasers of a new, not previously registered motorcycle, who register online at www.kawasaki.com/kawigirl, following their purchase, will be awarded a pre-loaded $250 MasterCard debit card. To sweeten the offer, Kawasaki will provide the first 50 registrants at the online site with a free Kawi Girl Jacket.
According to Chris Brull, Kawasaki’s director of marketing communications, “This short-term promotion underscores the company’s interest in continuing to expand the female market, and it will give our dealers added exposure to this important audience.”
As more deals come in for next weekend…we’ll keep you updated!
